The 8A Proposal Business Development Program is a business assistance program for small disadvantaged businesses. Similar to the Service Disabled Veteran Owned Business (SDVOSB) or Veteran Owned Business, Center for Veteran Enterprise (CVE) certification, the 8(a) Program offers a wide-ranging opportunity of support to firms that are owned and operated at least 51% by a socially and economically disadvantages individual. This platform is a crucial tool for assisting socially and economically disadvantaged entrepreneurs to advance access to the economic mainstream of American society. The 8(a) program that is implemented and fulfilled by the Small Business Administration (SBA) supports thousands of ambitious entrepreneurs to advance a foothold in government contracting. Partaking in this program is broken into two phases over nine years: First Stage is a four-year developmental stage and then a five-year transition stage.
